The Ameson Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the promotion and implementation of programs which facilitate cultural exchange and educational cooperation throughout the world. Founded in New York in 1994, Ameson's headquarters is located in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. Ameson maintains offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing and Suzhou, as well as numerous operations centers worldwide. Organized by the Ameson Foundation, a delegation of officials from Wenzhou paid a two-week visit to a number of European universities. The delegation was led by Mr. Xie Shuhua, Deputy Director of Education Bureau of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. The delegation visited University of Cambridge (UK), Lund University (Sweden), The Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), University of Nancy (France) and other elite universities. They discussed with representatives of the European Universities about reform of the university management mechanism and culture exchange between Europe and Chinese students. The Ameson Foundation had organized several educational visits for governmental delegations, such as the delegation of middle school representatives in Shanghai visiting Europe, the delegation of higher education in Jiangsu Province visiting the US, and the delegation of higher education in Liaoning Province visiting Ireland. It is believed that the series of visits would contribute to creating a solid basis for further education exchange and cooperation between Chinese and overseas universities.
