With an invitation from the Ameson Foundation, University of Limerick, University College Cork and the Institute of Education in Ireland, held an induction on higher education and secondary education in Ireland at the Crown Plaza hotel in Nanjing. This event was co-hosted with international education service center, Nanjing University.

Representatives from the Irish universities introduced education systems in Ireland and shared information on course credits, admission and examination systems,  studying and living environments, visa application and many other topics. After the presentations, parents and students also talked with representatives and experts from Ameson.
A basic education tour in China was sponsored by the Ameson Foundation and was organized with China Education Association for International Exchange, Jiangsu Education Association for International Exchange, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the Shanghai Society of Education, Zhejiang Provincial Education Department and the Zhejiang Society of Education. Seminars on international education were held from Oct. 25th to Nov. 11th in Wuxi, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

Professor Sean Zhang, Vice Chairman of the Ameson Foundation, delivered speeches at the International Principals’ Forum, Shanghai. This event was part of the “Ameson Chinese basic education tour, 2003”. High school principals’ from the US and Canada participated the forum and discussed basic education issues with nearly 40 high schools in Shanghai.

Speeches from guest speakers and group discussion of the forum were about significant issues involved in education transformation. This event was part of the “Ameson Chinese basic education tour, 2003”.

International Basic Education Symposium of Zhejiang Province was held in Jindu Hotel, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Mr. Hou Jinfang, General Director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Mr. Zhu Yongxiang, Secretary of General, Zhejiang Society of Education and Professor Sean Zhang, Vice Chairman of the Ameson Foundation, delivered speeches at the symposium.

This symposium is dedicated to topics on senior high school management. It is part of the “Ameson Chinese basic education tour, 2003”. Experts from the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland and China exchanged thoughts in education trends in the US and UK, inter-culture communication education, modern classroom teaching module, senior high school curriculum reform, all-around education, elite education, evaluation of teacher, students and principals, teacher training, and fund-raising.
Organized by  the Ameson Foundation, a delegation of officials from Wenzhou paid a two-week visit to a number of  European universities. The delegation was led by Mr. Xie Shuhua, Deputy Director of Education Bureau of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. The delegation visited University of Cambridge (UK), Lund University (Sweden), The Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), University of Nancy (France) and other elite universities. They discussed with representatives of the European Universities about reform of the university management mechanism and culture exchange between Europe and Chinese students.

The Ameson Foundation had organized several educational visits for governmental delegations, such as the delegation of middle school representatives in Shanghai visiting Europe, the delegation of higher education in Jiangsu Province visiting the US, and the delegation of higher education in Liaoning Province visiting Ireland. It is believed that the series of visits would contribute to creating a solid basis for further education exchange and cooperation between Chinese and overseas universities.

Ameson Foundation sealed deals with Huzhou  Education Bureau in the city of Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. The deal-signing event was during the opening ceremony of the ‘Huzhou-Shanghai cooperation 2002” series of programs.

Ms. Zhang Weijuan, Deputy Mayor of Huzhou, Prof. Sean Zhang, Vice Chairman of the Ameson Foundation, Ms. Sheng Xiaoying, Chief Representative of the Shanghai Office, Ameson Foundation, Mr. Zhu Hong, Director of Education Bureau of Huzhou, Mr. Geoffrey Keating, Consul-General of Ireland, Shanghai, and Ms.Susan Irvin, Visa Consul of The British Consulate-General, Shanghai, participated the event.

 


From March 20th to April 3rd  2003, Ameson China conducted a whirwind tour of Europe to hold 'Ameson Chinese Culture Day' events at 5 leading Irish and British universities. 14 top Chinese artists were invited by the Ameson foundation to engage in public talks, exhibitions and Chinese folk art performances.

It was the very first time such a high-level Chinese cultural promotion event was hosted overseas (and fully sponsored) by a non-governmental organization from China.

Ameson Institute organized a public lecture on English teaching for grade 4 students in Muxu Yuan, Nanjing, where the Ameson’s campus is located.

This lecture was created to provide direct and comprehensive perception about teaching methodology. This was a free event.

Tom, an Ameson English teacher from the U.S., gave a vivid and lively lecture. The more personal teaching environment, interactive role-plays and multimedia teaching method of the teachers attracted many local students and their parents.

More than 120 students and parents attended, and many parents expressed their appreciation for the quality and methodology of the lecture.
The Ameson Foundation organized an educational visit for the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education during December 15th and December 29th, 2002.

This two-week visit was dedicated to Special Education, especially in the field of deaf-mute students’ education. The group of visitors went to McGill University, the State University of New York and a few other related educational institutions.

Ameson Foundation created a bilingual class in Nanjing No. 4 Middle School in addition to Ameson’s bilingual education cooperation with Shixi Middle School in Shanghai. This class will be taught mainly by foreign teachers and supported by Chinese teachers. Subjects in science will be taught bilingually to senior high students.

On November 22nd, 2002, officials from governmental departments and the Ameson Foundation came to Nanjing No. 4 Middle School for signing the agreement.
