tudent evaluation - Basic education in China and the U.S., a symposium organized by the Ameson Foundation and Harvard University, will be held at Harvard University in the U.S.. With support and sponsorship from the Ameson Foundation and nearly a year of preparation from Harvard Graduate School of Education, this event will take place on February 22 and 23, 2010.

U.S. dignitaries including leading education experts, researchers, principals and administrators  will be invited to the event by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The delegation of Chinese experts will be recommended by the Ameson Foundation. In addition, both the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Ameson Foundation will invite key admission officers in charge of student’s evaluation from leading U.S. universities.

This symposium will be based on a growing emphasis on education in China, especially the transformation of basic education in China. It aims to promote mutual understanding and further exchanges and collaborations. Theories and practices of basic education and student evaluation will be discussed at the seminars. Leading U.S. education experts, school principals and administrators will exchange ideas with top Chinese educators about latest education theories in the field. Key and experienced student admission officers from leading universities will analyze evaluation practice and illustrate how the evaluation process of leading universities influences the development and trends of basic education in the U.S..

The Harvard Graduate School of Education has worked closely with top scholars in the field of education in China, particularly in last two decades. Its history and proficiency in education research has not only gained an excellent academic reputation, but the school also frequently engages in exchanges and provides advice for the central government of China. Those involved hope that the exchange and collaboration between Harvard and China will bring a positive and significant impact to educational development in both countries.
