The Ameson Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the promotion and implementation of programs which facilitate cultural exchange and educational cooperation throughout the world. Founded in New York in 1998, Ameson's headquarters is located in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. Ameson maintains offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing and Suzhou, as well as numerous operations centers worldwide. Ameson's honorary Chairman was the late Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghali, a former Secretary General of the United Nations.
Last week saw an unforgettable journey for Ameson Foundation: Four American education experts were invited together with Professor Sean Zhang, Deputy Chairman of the Ameson Foundation, took an educational visit to the city of Nanjing, Jinan, Hangzhou and Shanghai. They participated in “International Forum on Educational Leadership and Equality” in Jinan and Hangzhou, capitals of Shangdong and Zhejiang Province, respectively. They exchanged ideas with government officials, academics, school principals and university chancellors, and they visited schools from Early Education Center to high schools and universities.
Among the distinguished experts were Mr. Ramon Cortines, the Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District and former Deputy Mayor for Education Youth and Families for the City of Los Angeles CA; Professor Fernando M. Reimers, the Ford Foundation Professor of International Education and Director of Global Education and of International Education Policy at Harvard University; Dr. George Entwistle, the Superintendent of Schools in Belmont, Boston; Dr. Michael Harvey, Principal of Belmont High School.
