Collaborations

Mr. David Taylor, former director of inspection in Ofsted, U.K., recently accepted Ameson Foundation’s invitation and became one of their consultants. The director board of Ameson Foundation approved the invitation and was rather honored to have Mr. Taylor on board. Mr. Taylor accepted Ameson’s offer and expressed his willingness in making efforts to the education and cultural exchange between Ameson and the U.K..

Mr. Taylor has worked for the Department for Education and Skills in the U.K.. He left Ofsted in April 2004 to work as educational consultant. As director of inspection, he used to head the inspection, which has more than 200 inspectors that report directly to the Minister of Education. He has made tremendous contribution to the education system in the U.K.. The appointment of Mr. Taylor as the consultant of the Ameson Foundation would strengthen cooperation of Ameson with the UK and Europe.

Mr. Abdou Diouf, Former president of Senegal, and Secretary General of l'Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), sent a letter to offer support to Professor Sean Zhang, Vice Chairman of the Ameson Foundation.The Secretary General of the organization expressed his appreciation and support to the Ameson projects of French language and culture promotion.

Ameson Foundation has dedicated to the promotion of French language and promotion of culture from French-speaking regions in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province since the year 2000.

Collaborations

In addition to University of Cambridge starting to work with Ameson for recruiting high school students in China for their undergraduate program, Queensland University and Stony Brook University have also teamed up with Ameson and opened their doors to Chinese students. They are going to recruit excellent high school graduates and some freshmen with scholarships.

The Ameson Foundation held a press conference for the three programs, during which they summarized last year’s collaboration with Cambridge and introduced this year’s selection criteria for the three universities. The programs offered by the three universities provide more opportunities for Chinese students to study in leading universities around the world .

Collaborations

As of May 2004, Ameson Foundation will work with Lund University and Malmo University in Sweden for a training scheme for primary school principals and administration officials in China.

This scheme will be carried in the two Swedish universities and the aim of the program is to improve knowledge and proficiency in school operation, administrative control of government, and administration management, etc.

A delegation from Paul Cézanne University Aix-Marseille III visited the Ameson Institute and Ameson Foundation. Professor Jean-Pierre Centi, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Economics, Professor Jean PHILIPPE, Professor Ahmed Charai, Professor Le Maitre and Professor Ribiere from Paul Cézanne University Aix-Marseille III, as well as Professor Yvon Gousty, French Consul for Science & Technology, Consulate General of France in Shanghai, were among the visitors.

The visits purpose was to create and merge a training center of enterprise reform and establish a  Euro-culture program. Issues such as economic development, intellectual management and medium and small-sized business conception were also discussed.

Professor Sean Zhang, Vice Chairman of the Ameson Foundation met with the guests. The visiting experts said that they were impressed about the multi-media teaching environment and campus of the Ameson Institute.

altStarted from the year 2004, Ameson Foundation offers a scholarship to Chinese students pursuing postgraduate education in Universiteit Leiden of the Netherlands.

This scheme aims to cultivate talents with international vision and expertise, and also to create opportunities for students with excellent academic performances to to pursue further studies abroad. Ameson selects excellent student in China to pursue degrees in various subjects at Leiden University and provides each student a scholarship of around 3,400 Euro per year.

Collaborations

The Ameson Foundation has worked with 12 leading universities and created Ameson teachers’ training bases in University of Bristol, University of Nottingham, Anglia Polytechnic University, Durham University, Limerick University, University College Cork, University of Pennsylvania and University of Wisconsin.

Each year, more than 100 university and secondary school teachers are selected for the training in the Ameson teacher’s training base overseas. Each class has less than 20 selected Chinese teachers for the training. The training session is usually 4 weeks, 6 weeks, or a half-year long. During the training, tutorials and seminars are designed for the teachers in accordance with their aptitude.

In 2002, more than 300 teachers from Jiangsu, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Anhui Provinces and Shanghai applied for the training, in addition to successful English teachers’ training during summer vacations in the past. In addition, Ameson Foundation also hosts a series of teachers’ training programs in China.

alt The AECEF has organized a number of exchange programs on behalf of Chinese institutions and foreign education entities.

In an effort to promote French language and culture, Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghali, former UN Sec. General and Sec. General of l'Organization Internationale de la Francophonie, attended a number of events throughout eastern China in 2002.

At one of the events, Dr. Ghali was joined by Chinese dignitaries at the No. 2 Middle School in Songjiang, Shanghai Municipality to sign the formal declaration that began the project.

Later that month, Dr. Ghali launched a similar program at the No. 1 Middle School of Nanjing, becoming the first middle school in China to incorporate French lessons into their curriculum using a course designed by the Ameson Foundation.
