The Ameson Foundation co-sponsored the International Forum on Educational Leadership and Equality in Jinan Municipality, Shandong Province (also co-sponsored by the Education Department of Shandong Province) on Nov. 1, 2009, at the Shandong Hotel in Jinan.

A delegation of American education experts delivered keynote speeches at the forum. Issues such as theories and practices on leadership, education for rural and migrant children and professionalizing the profession of school principals were discussed and debated.

German psychologist and professor Dr. Julius Kuhl visited Ameson’s Nanjing office on Sept. 25. During his visit, he gave insight to his research to Ameson's staff and teachers and gave a presentation to Ameson students about the cultural differences and how they mold personalities. Deputy Chairman of the Ameson Foundation Sean Zhang was very excited to have Dr. Kuhl visit Ameson. "Having someone so knowledgeable in this field visit Ameson has been a real treat," Mr. Zhang said.

Ameson's Chinese media team recently had two articles published in the Jinling Evening News, a local Nanjing newspaper. The articles, published on September 5th and September 9th, were part of the newspaper’s special feature about Teacher’s Day, which is on September 10th in China.

altThe Ameson Scholastic Test (AST) took place Aug. 23 & 24, at 31 different test centers throughout China. The AST began in 2002 and is now used as a key criteria for admission at 17 world-leading universities, including Cambridge University and the University of Melbourne. The test is designed to evaluate Chinese high school students' academic abilities, in the context of both Chinese education system standards and those required by elite overseas universities.

A new student newspaper program will begin this upcoming school year for students at a number of different elite high schools in Jiangsu province. This program is one of Ameson’s first attempts at actively encouraging students’ involvement in extracurricular activities. The purpose of the endeavor is to help students improve their English language skills, gain leadership experience, and earn extra merit, which they can use when applying for admission to world-leading overseas universities.

altAn unveiling ceremony of AST test center was held in Yangzhou High School on May 21st 2009. Mr Michael O'Sullivan, Director of The Trustees of the Cambridge Commonwealth and Overseas Trusts, and Prof. Sean Zhang, deputy chairman of the Ameson Foundation, came to Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province to seal the deal.

By joining this program, Yangzhou High Shool has become an AST Test Center of Ameson Foundation and University of Cambridge China screening center.

Italian CILS Examination Center, the Ameson Foundation and the High School affiliated to Dalian University of Technology signed an agreement to include the high school as one of the CILS authorized exam-centers and also the 12th selection based on the “Marco Polo Scheme”.

Mr. Wang Yuejin, principal of the High School affiliated to Dalian University of Technology came to to Ameson Foundation's Nanjing Office to sign the agreement.

altThe College Board is a not-for-profit membership association that was founded in 1900 and is now composed of more than 5,400 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations. Each year, the College Board serves seven million students and their parents, 23,000 high schools, and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services in college admissions, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, teaching, and learning.

Recently, the Senior Deputy Chairman of the College Board, Dr. Peter Negroni joined Ameson’s Deputy Chairman Professor Sean Zhang on a tour of the Shanghai Gezhi High School. The visiting duo were met by deputy Principal Mr. Zhou Shufa, who introduced the history, specialties and advantages of the school, and then showed the guests around the campus.

The visit was successful in helping the College Board forge deeper ties within the Chinese education system, and also with the Ameson Foundation. Concluded Professor Zhang: “I am confident that by collaborating with the College Board, we can further our aims of contributing towards the continued globalization of the Chinese education system.”

The Nanjing Forum on the Reform and Development of Sino-American Secondary Education (co-organized by the Ameson Foundation and the Nanjing Bureau of Education) was held at the International Conference Hotel in Nanjing on March 26, 2009.

The forum was led by Mr. Zhou WenHai (the Vice Director of Nanjing Bureau of Education) and opened with a speech by Ameson’s Deputy Chairman Professor Sean Zhang.

Among the visiting delegation: Prof. Robert B.Schwartz (Academic Dean of Harvard Graduate School of Education); Dr. Steve Seleznow (Education Program Director, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation); Dr. Allan Alson (Associate Director, Leadership Development for the Consortium for Educational Change); and Dr. Evan Glazer (Principal, Thomas Jefferson High School).
