meson students use the Web for many things; homework, chatting and even shopping. Now they’ll be able to interview for university admissions through the Web as well.
In a first-time effort, Ameson students will participate in their university interviews via the internet by use of video conferencing and web cameras. Students applying for acceptance to University of Bristol, UK, which has been involved with the ACEIS program since 2008, will go to Shanghai on Oct. 27 -28 to participate in the interviews.
Excitement around Ameson
Sunny Sun, ACEIS project officer for Ameson, says that both parties are excited to use the new technology. Despite the lack of face-to-face contact, Sunny highlighted many benefits of having Web-based interviews. “With video conferencing for the students interviews, you save money, energy and resources,” Sunny says.
Other staff in the ACEIS program think that with the success of the new video conferencing system, more schools will be enthusiastic about joining the ACEIS scheme and creating parternships with the Ameson Foudation. Prof. Sean Zhang, Deputy Chairman of the Ameson Foundation, thinks this is great progress for the Foundation. “It is always a goal to make our programs and students more accessible to world-leading universities,” Prof. Zhang says. “Through advancements like this we are able to appeal to and reach a broader range of universities.”
